From a friend ... I have some twitter/google map questions. Like, how do i make a short link for twitter posts? You're looking for a URL shortener. There are Twitter (and Status.net/Identi.ca) apps that incorporate them, or you can use one manually. Bit.ly offers you a lot of analytical tools, bk.ly is Brooklyn specific (see also, ph.ly). Technically, there are zillions of them. I use Twhirl, which shortens URLs with Bit.ly.

My new friend Jen lured me to a panel last night. Part of LMCC's Access Restricted series. Worth checking out, though I wanted a lot more from Intellectual Property in the Age of Reproduction. We barely touched on the very interesting questions of copyright transgression, copying and fair use. Which is really too bad. Two quick observations before I get back to work.
Lists have been made before. Jen Bekman's is great, though it is predictably full of artists. And public-spacists like Shin-Pei, who I've never seen speak but who is excellent and inspiring to be friends with. I bet Jen Bekman's a great speaker. But Jenna asked, so I'm asking: Where are all the women? And why aren't they at the podium? Note: I've folded in a few new names.
I'm starting to make some screencasts for DocumentCloud and sincerely hoping that parts two and three of Alan Pope's screencasting screencast really are forthcoming. Hoping without much optimism. Nonetheless, screencasting I am. The screencast was helpful, but needed some text accompaniment. I tried to add same in the comments but they haven't been approved in over a week and I'm not confident. So here's, basically what he said:
